I want to switch gears here and talk about something that I really don't see many other business owners talking about and that's mental health. A lot of people, especially Americans, don't realize how your mental health can affect everything you do, including your business. For this week's post, I want to talk about my own experience with mental health and how it directly correlated with my business and my day job.
Taking a Break from Facebook? You're Not the Only One
Studies have shown that too much Facebook can be a bad thing. In fact, there is an op-ed piece in the New York Post where they say that Facebook could be potentially damaging to your mental health. With the average Facebook user spending 50 minutes a day on the site, (or if you are like me, you're are spending more than 12 hours a day on it), and getting bombarded with tons of content, it seems like it might be getting a little too much for some. It might mean taking a break from the social media site all together.
How Much Is Too Much for Social Media?
This doesn't answer the question of why are we so obsessed with what other people are doing. The truth is, haven't we always been? It's true Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media completely revolutionized the way people communicated to each other, making the world a smaller place.
