5 Ways to Optimize Your Pinterest Page

If we have learned anything about social media over the last five years, it's that people love to pin! It only proves the point of people liking pictures to text even more. Visualization is key to getting anyone's attention on the internet, and Pinterest makes that very clear. It's a far third from the top social media sites on the net, but that doesn't stop many marketers from using it as a search engine! Pinterest is no longer a place where women in their mid thirties (or twenties) looking for diet, wellness and exercise tips to improve their lifestyles. You can get some serious traffic to your website with its search engine features and optimizing your profile the right way. It reached 175 million users in April 2017, and that number reach to 250 million active users last month! Pinterest is hot right now and it should be a part of your 2019 marketing plan if it's not already.

1. Make sure you have a business page.

One way to do that is to make sure you set your profile to a business profile. It's easy to convert your personal page to a business page. Displaying your company name instead of your personal name will make your page look more professional, access to a marketing library, and getting analytics to your page will tell you what content works for your page. You can also run contests, and you also have the ability verify your website to get that check mark right next to it.

2. Fill in your business details

There's a lot of brands that leave out a lot of important business information from their profile. Take ten minutes out of your day and write your mission statement, story, and why you do what you do. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it needs to be enough to show your potential customers why your business is the best one out there in your industry!

3. Tracking your pinned content

Sure you can track your own content that people are pinning, but what about what else they are pinning? There's actually a lot of tools for that! When you find what people are pinning from your content, you can get a lot of ideas on how to create more content catered to them!

4. Change your boards for the season or holiday.

The holidays are coming up, which should mean changing your boards to fit the season. If it's been more than three months you should definitely change your cover images on your board, and create boards to fit the season. Winning Winter, 12 days of Christmas, Avoiding Thanksgiving Disasters, Getting Fit for Halloween, are all amazing pin board ideas for the upcoming holiday season!

5. Running Ads

Get your content in front of people who are already searching for your products or services anyways! Remember to set a budget, and you only pay when people visit your website! It's a great way to get your business seen on Pinterest.

Pinterest's Big Search Engine

You can also optimize your page, by utilizing its search engine. Creating and optimizing pin that makes what you have easy to search for, big bold colors and photos that vary in sizes that is eye appealing is a great way to get to the top of Pinterest's search engine. DIY solutions usually do well. Make sure to use high quality pictures, and using a photo site like Canva to make it more you. Optimizing each pin, fit with a description, and a link will also get you to the top! Remember that Pinterest is just like any other social media site, so remember to participate in the community by asking questions, leaving comments and pinning other users content to your boards!
